Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's first female artist on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Her first single was released with the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain notoriety. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first posted music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013 the mixtape Five Finger Discount. The year 2014 saw her release additional music on the internet including Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes and from Sweat It Out, July 21st, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time and wanted her to work on Rihanna references. On December 8 it was confirmed that she had been officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she recorded with Cozz for The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. In October 21st, 2016 the debut EP of Ari Lennox was released, titled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act to J. Cole on his song Change in 2017, and was a part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she went on to appear on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang in Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox dropped her first single Whipped Cream from Shea Butter Baby on July 16. The music video was followed by a video in September. The second single she released was called Grampa on the 9th of November. On November 13 she dropped two more singles entitled One and Pdigree. One and Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made appearances as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this single as a way to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. On February 20, 2019, a music clip was released for the song. It has already received nearly 3 million views on YouTube within its debut week. In December 2018, she performed as a supporting act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
