Aurora

Aurora Aksnes was born on 15 June 1996 in Stavanger, Norway. She is professionally known as Aurora and sometimes stylized with the letters in uppercase like AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, released in May 2015 by Decca Records to great approval of music bloggers and the media. Half the World Away from Oasis was released by the group Oasis was recorded to accompany an ad campaign for John Lewis, and Nature Boy is a Nat King Cole cover. Katy Perry posted a video in which she endorsed Runaway. The endorsement earned her some recognition. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories are of discovering the piano in her attic, and becoming fascinated with its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes encouraged her to pursue music for development of her own, not for the purpose of making money or to pursue an interest. In order to do so, she began writing original compositions. Bjork as well as Leonard Cohen are among her favourite songwriters. Her mother had told her that her songs could not only help her gain fame, however, they could also help others understand their significance within the global community and see the possibilities for her songs She decided to start singing in public. The piano was her first instrument when she was six. She started creating music after turning nine. The family did not be aware of this until she was fourteen. Aurora wasn't a childhood dream. She claims that she enjoys composing songs. Music to her is the only way to feel anything.
