Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell joined CBS station WDVM-TV (then WTOP) in Washington DC in 1976. A few years later, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. 1980 began her coverage of the White House. 1988 became the chief congressional journalist. Mitchell was named as the head White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell was a panelist at the debate in 1988 among George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 to recognize her efforts in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a wide range of notable stories, including the Iran-Contra scandal, the tax reforms to the budget and the arms control. Mitchell travelled along with President Ronald Reagan many times to attend summits and discuss topics including that of the Iran Contra scandal.
